Contact emergency services if required.
Document the damage. Take clear photos to support your claim.
Start gathering proof of ownership. This may include receipts, photos, contracts, packaging, or user manuals.
Collect details of other parties involved, including their name, phone number, and vehicle registration (if applicable).
Where possible, do not incur any costs or expenses without your insurers prior consent.
Ensure everyone is safe - Your wellbeing is the top priority.
Keep damaged items. Do not dispose of anything until your insurer advises, as they may need to inspect or salvage items.
Prevent further damage. Take reasonable steps to minimise additional loss.
The Claims Process
